When we first imagined new ways to approach weather forecasting, we started with a lot of “what ifs?” and, thanks to the brightest minds in the business, quickly moved to “why not?” Climavision’s team of talented engineers, data scientists, meteorologists, and climate enthusiasts built on the successes of their predecessors and developed revolutionary new approaches that will propel weather forecasting into the future. We went to the root of the problem – gaps in observations – and took on the challenge ourselves. We’ve married new observations with our blend of advanced science, data, and technology to make the greatest leaps in forecast accuracy in over 50 years.

Going to extremes
Weather prediction relies on a single core element – observation. Our dedicated weather radar network provides more coverage and delivers significantly more data than ever available. Our access to proprietary GPS-RO data and other high-value observation data sets delivers highly valuable information in gap areas across the globe, especially over the ocean. This ability expands our visibility and understanding of the atmosphere, far beyond sparsely launched weather balloons. Filling hundreds of gaps in coverage is akin to filling in the missing pieces of a puzzle – finally, we can survey extreme weather phenomena, such as hurricanes, faster and at higher resolution, before they hit close to home.
Observations are just the beginning. We’re marrying observations with cutting edge technology. Armed with new data points, our cloud-based storage and high-powered computing (HPC) delivers critical nowcasts plus short-, mid-, and long-range forecasts. Our visualizations and interactive maps give greater visibility into the potential impacts of severe weather events with greater precision and longer lead times than previously available.

Climavision acquires Intersphere, bolstering leadership in AI-powered weather prediction
LOUISVILLE, KY (April 18, 2024) – Energy investors, producers and traders now have access to critical weather and climate insights earlier than ever before, thanks to the combined expertise of two leaders in AI-powered weather prediction.
Climavision Brings First Kansas Radar Online
LOUISVILLE, KY AND HUMBOLDT, KS – Climate tech pioneer Climavision is bolstering its network of weather radars across Middle America with a new installation in Allen County, Kansas slated to go online this month. The company’s new radar in Humboldt fills a critical low-level coverage gap in Eastern Kansas, further contributing to the company’s advanced supplemental radar network across the United States. The installation sits roughly 100 miles of east of the state capital Topeka and 65 miles west of Joplin, Missouri.
New Radar Now Watching Over Central Missouri
LOUISVILLE, KY AND BOONVILLE, MO – Climate tech pioneer Climavision will enhance its network of weather radars across the Midwest, with a new installation in Cooper County, Missouri set to go online this month. The new radar in Boonville fills a critical low-level coverage gap along the Missouri River and adds to the company’s advanced supplemental radar network across the United States. The installation is just outside the city of Columbia, home to the University of Missouri, and 50 miles northwest of Jefferson City, the state capital.

Marion’s new Doppler weather radar now fully operational
Marion’s new weather radar came fully online today. In honor of the achievement, the town held a ribbon cutting. This radar is owned by the private company Climavision, who was in attendance. The new installment covers a nearly 8,000-foot-tall gap over east Mississippi that the Brandon and West Point radar systems can’t see.

Our X-band radar in Chauvin, approximately 40 miles Southwest of New Orleans, closes a decades-old gap in radar coverage impacting more than 100,000 people living in the state’s bayou. On April 16th we celebrated the official ribbon cutting of the radar with our partners at the Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Water Works.

Weather forecasting tech company plans 2 X-band radars to cover NCW gaps
Kentucky-based Climavision plans to install 200 radars in the next four years, including up to four radars in Washington at no cost to the community, said Tara Leigh Goode, Climavision vice president/strategic partnerships and radar operations. The weather forecasting technology firm received $100 million from The Rise Fund, TPG’s global impact investing platform, to fund the buildouts and upkeep, Goode said. Fort Worth, Texas-based TPG Inc., previously known as Texas Pacific Group and TPG Capital, is an American private equity firm.
